INTRODUCTION
The living body can function normally, only when its Dosha, Dhatu & Mala are in a state of equilibrium. Through the rigorous analysis of samhitas it has been stated that maximum diseases occur due to Dharana of Adharaniya vega. As prevention is the foremost aim of health and to maintain the quality life acharayas has well described various factors like dinacharya, ritucharya, sadvritta etc to be followed along with which they have clearly mentioned about the hazardous effects of vega dharana. There are certain Vega which should not be suppressed inside the body otherwise will be responsible for the genesis of various diseases. Now a days, due to busy and stressful lifestyle and in the dream of achieving the big targets in short period, people suppress one or more of their natural urges unaware of being trapped in the genesis of diseases. These are called as natural because these are the substances that are present in our body naturally as a result of day today wear and tear process and tend to get eliminated from the body itself following their urge on the specific time. Hence, they should not be suppressed and let hold in the body as their elimination make the body purified. Suppressing these urges by chance does not require much attention but regular suppression of them leads to serious health problems. Here the attempt is made to show how one could attain quality life and prevent various physical as well as mental health issues by not suppressing various vegas classically known as Adharaniya Vega.
MATERIAL AND METHOD
The article has been explored through various classical Samhitas (Charaka, Sushruta, Vagbhata). Literature available in various journals and academic books was collected, compared, and analyzed thoroughly.
DESCRIPTION OF ADHARANIYA VEGA
Vega means natural urges. Vegadharan means suppression of natural urges. Vega are classified into two groups as Dharaniya and Adharaniya vega. Out of which Dharaniya vega are those natural urges that should be suppressed by a person for his/her physical, social and psychological well being and Adharaniya vega are those natural urges that should not be suppressed in the body because they present themselves waste outcome of various bodily functions. Initiation of natural urges is a natural process through which unwanted products expelled out of the body and this process is carried out timely by various body systems and controlled by nervous system. If the suppression of Adharaniya Vega is practised regularly then it will ultimately lead to a stressful, painful and diseased life which progress towards morbidity. The number of Adharaniya vega by Acharya Charka & Acharya Sushruta are 13 and Acharya Vagbhatt included one more making the number to 14 along they clearly mentioned in details about the Adharaniya Vega in separate chapters with their harmful effects causing various diseases and treatment of them.
DISCUSSION
From the above description it is so far very clear about the harmful effects of suppressing the Adharaniva Vega. People offen suppress the Vega of mala mutra due to their busy life similarly Nidra which if taken properly brings harmony to one's life is seen to be disturbed in most of the person due to their sedentary lifestyle or sometimes intentionally avoided due to computer work or watching TV. The Vega ofkshayathu. flatus has been also seen to be suppressed due shy nature or for the social stigma. People often skip their meal due to busy schedule or in the course of dieting hence suppress kshudhavega. If we closely consider all the above Vega and their suppressing effects it clearly shows that if these Vegas are intentionally suppressed then they will show reverse consequences in the form of ill health to all the system of our body.
For instance: cardiovascular system affected due to suppression of Apan vayu, sramajaya swasha, kasa, pipasa, asru, endandiya vata vega. Gastrointestinal system is seen to be affected by apan vayu, mutra, chardi vega dharana. Diseases of head region are closely related to the suppression of asru, nidra, shavathu vega dharana. Moreover, headache is also seen as a symptom in suppressing the vega of mutra, purisha. Nervous system is seen affected by vega dharan of jumbha, pipasa. Various skin diseases get originated by the suppression of chardi vega.
Although Shukra is said to be dharana in the body as it is an indicative factor of person's strength but forcibly suppressing shukra vega leads to Genitourinary system is also seen to be affected by shukravegadharana. Similarly, several hazardous diseases like kustha, pandu, visarpa, gulma, hridroga, ardita are described to occur in result of the suppression of adharaniya vega.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it can be concluded that Adharaniya Vega dharan is the initiator of many harmful diseases leading to the disturbance in the equilibrium of Dosha, Dhatu & Mala. The vegadharana leads to unintended consequences of a particular Vega.
It causes ill health both at physical as well as psychological level. People should be aware of these Vega and various diseases and disturbances occurring through their suppression. One could easily avoid diseases and attain a state of physical, mental and social well being by not suppressing Adharaniya Vega and hence can step towards the preventive aspect of health.
